Methodology
SellerSaysexists to answer one chain of questions for cross-border sellers: where to sell, how to ship, and what you'll actually keep. Every answer follows the same rules.
1. Numbers come from official sources only
Tax rates, thresholds, tariffs, and fees are taken from government authorities, platform fee schedules, and provider pricing pages — currently 332 tracked facts from 75 official publishers. Each fact stores its source URL, jurisdiction, effective date, and the date we last verified it. Community posts and news can tell us what sellers are asking; they are never used as the source of a number.
2. Every statement is labeled
Outputs are tagged as Official fact (cited), Calculation (deterministic arithmetic on your inputs), SellerSays rule (our explicit judgment, shown as judgment), or Estimate. When a needed number is not published, tools exclude the option or show the gap — they never invent a value.
3. Answers must move with your inputs
If changing your price, market, origin, or volume can't change the conclusion, it's an article, not a tool — and it doesn't ship here as a tool.
4. What we are not
SellerSays is not a law firm, tax advisor, or customs broker. HS classifications shown are candidates, not rulings. For binding decisions — classification, registration obligations, restricted goods — confirm with the authority or a licensed professional. We aim to make that step cheaper by telling you exactly what to ask.
