Etsy fees: what you pay per sale

Every Etsy sale stacks three fees: the $0.20 listing fee, a 6.5% transaction fee on the item plus shipping you charge, and payment processing at 3% + $0.25 (US). That's about 10% on a typical $30 order before the two conditional fees — Offsite Ads (15%, or 12% once you've made $10k in a year, capped at $100) when an Etsy ad brought the buyer, and 2.5% currency conversion when your listing and payout currencies differ.

The two fees that ambush cross-border sellers

Offsite Ads is mandatory once your shop passes $10k of trailing-year sales — you can't opt out, only budget for it. Model your margin at the 12–15% ad-attributed rate for the share of orders ads actually bring, not as if every order pays it.

Currency conversion is quieter: list in USD, get paid out in EUR, and 2.5% comes off everything. Matching your listing currency to your payout currency deletes this line entirely — one settings change worth a quarter of your transaction fee.
